Preparing For A Move

To ensure that your move goes as smoothly as possible, there are steps you can take in advance and on moving day.

Based on our years of moving experience, we’d like to offer the following suggestions:
• Start packing at least a month before moving day.
• Use sturdy moving boxes and packing supplies to protect your belongings.
• Mark all of your boxes with the contents and the room in which they belong.
• Drain your lawnmower and power tools of any fuel.
• Drain water from plants and water beds.
• Back up your computers and electrical equipment, disconnect and mark all cables, and wrap everything with bubble wrap.
• Use wardrobe boxes for your hanging clothes (we’ll provide these free of charge for use during your move).
• Gather all of your personal documents (such as financial records, passports, birth certificates, and tax records) and place these in a separate box that you’ll transport yourself.
• Separately pack personal items that you’ll need immediately (such as medications, toiletries, towels and linens, pet food, and your child’s favorite toys), and take these with you.
• Once the truck has been completely loaded at the apartment or house you’re vacating, do a walk-through with our crew leader to make sure that everything you want to have moved is on the truck.
• Have someone meet our crew at your new location, so that he/she can direct our moving crew as to where the items and boxes will be placed.
• Once the truck has been unloaded, do another walk-through to make sure that everything is where you want it and that the items you want assembled have been assembled properly.
