Moving Checklist

Few people love to move, but if you’ll follow this moving checklist, your move should be easy and stress-free.
_____ Get an estimate from a reputable moving company that is a Better Business Bureau accredited member with an A+ rating; schedule a day and time for the move.
_____ Start packing, labeling boxes as you go.
_____ Get rid of everything you don’t want so that you don’t have to move and/or store it.
_____ Donate unwanted items to charities, or sell them at a garage sale.
_____ Put in a change of address notice with the United States Post Office (USPS).
_____ Order new checks from your bank.
_____ Change the address on your driver’s license.
_____ Register your vehicles at your new location.
_____ Notify everyone of your new address (doctors, credit card companies, friends, family, schools).
_____ Transfer your newspaper and magazine subscriptions.
_____ Call your utility companies to disconnect and reconnect services.
_____ Reserve the elevator for moving day, if you’re moving into an office/apartment building or high-rise.
_____ If you can, reserve a parking space for the moving truck. We’ll need at least two car lengths.
_____ Gather all of your personal documents and valuables (medications, passports, financial records, birth certificates, jewelry) into one or two boxes, and keep them with you at all times.
